GLENNA ELSPETH THORBURN

THORBURN, GLENNA ELSPETH Glenna E. Thorburn of Dumfries passed away April 23, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Glenna was born at Upper Woodstock, a daughter of the late Leroy and Pearl (Robinson) London. She attended school in Belleville and sewing classes in Florenceville as a young woman. In 1938 she married Garnet Thorburn and lived in Fredericton. Glenna was employed with J. D. Creaghan and J.S. Neill before joining the Provincial Government for 13 years, retiring in 1983. She joined the Order of Eastern Star, Celestial Chapter #3 in 1947. In 1975 Glenna and Garnet moved to Dumfries where she was a member of the Women's Institute, St. Clement's ACW, St. Clement's Anglican Church, the Dumfries Ladies Auxillary and the York PC Association. Over the years her hobbies included knitting, sewing, gardening, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Glenna is survived by a daughter, Garnella Nason (William), Fredericton; two grandsons, Brent Nason (Gail), Denfield, ON and Robyn Nason (Nancy), Phoenix, AZ; four great grandchildren, Nicholas, Cody, Ciara and Hannah; three sisters, Evelyn Hilliard, Houlton, ME, Vivian McCarthy, Oceanside, CA and Thelma London, Windsor, CT; a brother, Eugene London (Glenna), Hartford, CT and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband in 1986. Resting at St. Clement's Anglican Church, 6832 Route 102, Dumfries with visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the church on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Elaine Hamilton officiating. Interment will be later at Prince William Cemetery. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held at the church on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Glenna, the family has suggested the building fund of St. Clement's Anglican Church. www.flewellingswan.com
