BERTHA BELL

BELL, BERTHA Bertha "Bep" (Nieuwenstein) Bell, wife of the late Gordon Bell passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 5, 2007 with her loving daughters by her side. Born in Holland on July 14, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Albertus and Johanna (Balk) Nieuwenstein. Bep arrived in Halifax in 1946 aboard the Queen Mary as a war bride. She devoted her entire life to her husband and children. She is survived by two daughters, Johanna (Campbell) Curtis of Charters' Settlement, NB and Tessa (Peter) Lamey of Durham Bridge, NB; two sons, Brad Bell (Madeleine) of Kingston, ON and John Bell of Kanata, ON; three brothers, Jan (Willie) of Michigan USA, Andre and John (Jo) of Halifax; two sisters, Corrie and Annie of Holland; five grandchildren, Jason and Brandon Curtis, Jeremy and Mitchel Morehouse, and Brandi Bell (and her mom, Sandi Bell); two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Drew; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Anton; and sister-in-law Catherine. Although there will be no visitation, a funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 2 pm from Smythe Street Cathedral with Rev. Wayne Flowers. A private family burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi, Lincoln, NB. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society of NB, Red Cross or the Extra-Mural Program would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
