DOBSON, CHARLES "SONNY" MELVILLE BAIRD Fredericton, NB - After a lengthy illness, Charles "Sonny" Melville Baird Dobson, age 73, of New Maryland, NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton on Saturday, August 11, 2007. Born in Moncton, he was a son of the late Frank L. and Mona (Baird) Dobson. Charlie grew up in Dorchester, NB; following graduation from the Dorchester High School in 1952 he continued on to Mount Allison University. After moving to Fredericton, he began working for the Federal Forestry Department, where he remained for the next 32 years. In 1965 he met and later married his loving wife Maxine (McKay), sharing over 40 wonderful years together. Though Charlie officially retired in 1991, he kept busy by working for the Village of New Maryland for many years after. Charlie would say his family and friends were a very important part of his life. Charlie will be deeply missed by his wife, Maxine, New Maryland, NB; his daughter, the joy and light of his life, Jillian (Joseph) Shealy, Albany, Georgia; his granddaughter, Celia Grace; a brother Gaius (Darlene) Dobson, Dorchester; and three nephews, Andrew, Jonathon and Christopher. Charlie maintained a close relationship with Maxine's family, her five sisters; one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his Aunt Celia Baird, who shared their home in Dorchester and was like a second mother to him. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). Visiting hours will take place at the Dobson Homestead at 21 Woodlawn Rd., Dorchester, NB on Monday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the Dorchester Trinity Anglican Church on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 2 pm, Rev. Father Kevin Stockall and Rev. Bruce McKenna officiating. Burial will follow in the Dorchester Rural Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
