JOHN FRANCIS HAWKES

HAWKES, JOHN FRANCIS John Francis Hawkes passed away at Campbell River and District Hospital on Monday, August 27, 2007. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his family; son Stanley of Edmonton, Alberta; daughters Debbi Hawkes (Ron Kendall) of Grande Prairie, Alberta and Krista Lucas (Junior) of Beaverlodge, Alberta; grandchildren Jordan, Braden and Nathan; sisters Beatrice Krebs (Gerry) of Merritt, B.C., Kathleen Jackson of Coquilam, B.C. and Florence Flynn (Norm) of Kamloops, B.C., as well as several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his mother, Mary Ellen ( aka "Minnie"), his father Garnet, sister Deborah and brothers Leo and Floyd. John served as a private in the Canadian Army and was a member of Branch 137, Royal Canadian Legion, Campbell River. He was a logger, worked in construction and worked for PCL. In his leisure, he enjoyed playing guitar, singing and socializing. He was always a joking; a jovial, generous, compassionate person who was a friend for life. John loved both the ocean and the eagles. He will be ever loved and sadly missed by all who knew him. Special thank you to Colin, Connie and Jennie (his Island family). Private family arrangements entrusted to ISLAND FUNERAL SERVICES/ ELK FALLS CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTER, Campbell River. For those wishing donations in John's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Lung Association would be appreciated.
