HOWELL, DONALD THOMAS Donald Thomas Howell of Nackawic, NB passed away peacefully on September 20, 2007 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland in 1934 to the late Frederick and Minnie Howell. Don is survived by his wife, Beatrice Howell; daughter Dawn Louise Rae (Eugene) and two granddaughters, Tiffany and Abbey Rae all of Fort McMurray, AB; son John F. B. Howell (Karen) and four grandsons, Brandon, Dylan, Caden and Karsen Howell all of Nackawic, NB. Also survived by three sisters Shirley and Janet, both of Ontario and Jeannie of British Columbia; one brother, Jack of Alberta; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Joan, both of Ontario and their families. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Wilbert and Alice Pike, one brother Frederick and brothers-in-law Ivor, Bev, Dennis, and Ernie. In the early years Don was a Military Police officer in the Air Force. He managed a curling club in St. Catharines ON and later went on to work at several pulp mills in Ontario, Quebec and NB. He settled in Nackawic, NB in 1969, where he retired as a Maintenance Foreman for St. Anne Pulp Co. Through the years he was actively involved in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #27 and the Nackawic Lions Club. Don had a very giving personality and was always willing to help someone in need. He loved people. He also had a special place in his heart for teens which prompted him to start the first Leo Club in Nackawic in the 70's. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Louise Breau Memorial Medical Trust Fund would be appreciated by the family. Special love and thanks to Janet Hawkins. To honor Don's wishes there will be no visitation or service. Following cremation there will be a family service in Newfoundland at a later date.
