WARREN AYRES (III) On ROCKWELL
ROCKWELL, WARREN AYRES (III) On Thursday, September 20 , 2007 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Warren A. Rockwell II and Millicent (Rutherford) Rockwell. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his much loved sister, Beatrice Thurner of Ventura, California. He was also predeceased by Alis Prieto Soto Rockwell, the mother of his only child, son Arthur. Besides his current wife, Carla MacInnis Rockwell and his son Arthur, he leaves to mourn his elder brother Dr. Reginald Rutherford (Eleanor) several nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, and numerous friends, including special friends Jeanne Johnson and Debbie Croucher. Also left to mourn are the many colleagues with whom he remained in touch over the years, who appreciated his sense of humor and his great zest for life. He'll be remembered for his steel-trap mind and as he put it, his wealth of useless information, as evidenced in his 'winning ways' as he challenged himself with Jeopardy each evening. Warren also leaves to mourn, his wee Cairn terrier, Mr. Jake aka ratty bratty who will miss his 'daddy' terribly. Warren's early life was spent in Ontario, in his birthplace of Chatham, Ontario and later in his boyhood home of Windsor. He attended Ridley College in St. Catharines, Ontario, where he demonstrated his prowess on the football field and in swimming. When wanderlust grabbed him as a young man, he ventured off in pursuit of business and financial success, developing several companies, before settling later in his work life on a career as a Financial Planner/Stock Broker in Washington, DC which he carried on with great skill until ill health forced early retirement. In retirement, Warren returned to his roots as a good old Canadian boy and lived with a childhood friend and his family for several months before meeting his wife, Carla. Warren and Carla lived in Fredericton, New Brunswick for several years before they found what he called 'my little cabin in the woods', in Williamsburg, New Brunswick 'a lovely property with a pond in front'. A thirst for knowledge inspired Warren to develop the special hobby of genealogical research and he spent several years working on both his maternal and paternal ancestries with copies of both being made available to various societies in Canada and the United States. It was during this research that he discovered a distant cousin and her husband; all became fast friends. Warren had also written a book of poetry that was published in the United States. The family would like to thank Dr. Syd Grant and the excellent staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital as well as the Dr. John Carson and Oncology Unit staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the care and attention given to Warren during his stay at those facilities. They went above and beyond. At this time, funeral arrangements, entrusted to McAdam's Funeral Home, have not been finalized but it is the wish of the family that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local SPCA, the Cancer Society or to a charity of choice. www.mcadamsfh.com
