Irene Vogt Rita

Born: April 1st, 1920

Rita Irene Vogt 1920 - 2008 Rita Irene Vogt was born in Young, SK on April 1, 1920 to Alex and Margaret Graf. She attended elementary and secondary school in Young. Upon graduation, she completed her teaching certification at Teachers' College in Saskatoon, SK. Rita taught in various locations in Saskatchewan, beginning her career in Moose Jaw with the Separate School Division and retiring from the Saskatoon Catholic School Division in 1979. She married Albert Vogt in 1944 and they shared their life together in Estevan, Moose Jaw and Saskatoon. She died in Saskatoon on November 16, 2008 at the Saskatoon City Hospital with family by her side. She is survived by her brother, Edward Graf (Esther) of Vancouver, BC; her three children, Lawrence Vogt (Janice), Donald Vogt (Patricia) of Saskatoon, SK, Margaret Halifax (Ole Loberg) of Regina, SK; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Margaret Graf; her husband, Albert Vogt and siblings, Edmund Graf, Mary Margaret Graf, Louise Graf and Mertis Schuster. Her faith was a significant part of her life and Rita took an active role in CWL and Association of Mary. She regularly attended at St. Joseph's Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Saskatoon. She was an avid reader and writer. She enjoyed discussions, good movies, politics, books, crossword puzzles and bridge. She was a people person, always having time for and enjoying a visit from family and friends. She was a loyal friend and a very giving person who will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. A. Nayar, Dr. N. Sharma and the nursing staff of 6300 at the Saskatoon City Hospital, the staff at Cedar Gardens Special Care Home and St. Volodymyr Terrace. Vigil for Rita will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. led by Rev. Fr. Daniel Chui. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Celebrants, Rev. Fr. Daniel Chui and Rev. Fr. Raymond Senger. Both services will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, (corner of 8th Street and Broadway Avenue, Saskatoon, SK). Rite of Committal will take place in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery, Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's memory may be made to a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
