NORA G. DOLAN

DOLAN, NORA G. It is with great sadness that the children announce the passing of their mother, Nora G Dolan on January 9, 2008. Mom was born in Fredericton on January 19, 1922 and spent her entire life as a resident of the city. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Feeney) Cain and the wife of the late Dr. Raymond H. Dolan. Mom is survived by her five children and 14 grandchildren Raymond (Jane), Sarah and David, Michael (Joan), Katelyn, Sean, and Jill, Terry (Linda), Colin, Emma, and Luke, all of Fredericton. Sean (Andrea), Kiera and Alex of Rothesay, N.B. and Moyra Heisler (Mickey), David, Kristin, Melissa and Scott of Heisler, Alta. She was predeceased by her much loved son David Dolan in 1973; brother Gerald (Angela) Cain; and sisters Beatrice Cain and Rita (George) Ward. She is also survived by her sister Kay Loring of Maccan, Nova Scotia; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mom was educated in the Fredericton School System and prior to her marriage in 1948 was employed by the RCMP as a civilian member. After years of rail travel to and from "Diaper Dell" McDonald College, while Dad attended Dentistry school at McGill University, she returned with Dad and their first three children to set up what was to be their residence on St John Street. Mom was devoted and active parishioner of St. Dunstan's Catholic Church and the CWL, where she honed her bridge skills. Mom established many friendships over a game of bridge. She also was an active member of the Fredericton Curling Club where she and Dad enjoyed many social events. Mom, after raising six children, decided to join Dad and his dental practice where she attempted to be the office manager. Upon their retirement in 1986 they retired to "Tooth Acres" at Grand Lake where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Over the last four years Mom was a resident of Pine Grove Nursing Home where she received exceptional care from the staff and volunteers. The family was deeply moved by the care and love extended towards her. We the family and the people she touched will always remember her for her kind and gentle spirit. She was gracious her entire life. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB on Thursday Jan 10 from 7 - 9 and Friday Jan 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 with funeral mass to be held Saturday Jan 12 at 2 pm at St. Dunstan's Church with Father Gerald White as celebrant.
