BANKS, JUDITH "JUDY" ELLEN With characteristic strength, humility, quietness and beauty, Judith "Judy" Ellen Banks of Fredericton passed away on Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital at the age of 60. Born in St. Stephen, NB, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Josephine (Harlow) Spear. Judy was employed with Neill & Gunter for 26 years, spending the latter part of her career as an Executive Assistant to the CEO. She was a member of Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church where she served in several capacities and on various boards. She was an elegant speaker and was often invited to speak at various functions, even during the final months of her illness. She was a wonderful and giving wife, Mother, Grammy, daughter, sister, friend and co-worker. Her favorite and most suited role was that of being Grammy to her precious grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor, and her heart overflowed with love and pride in anticipation of the arrival of her newest grandson. In God's perfect timing, Henry Vernon Boyer, arrived on January 12, 2008. Judy's life, in whole, was a testimony to God's faithfulness and goodness. Judy is survived by many who dearly loved her, her adoring husband, Bill; children, Joel Banks (Lisa) of Miramichi, Jacqueline Boyer (Ryan) of Fredericton, Carol Banks of Fredericton, Lori Hazlett (Tom) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor, Henry, Tara, Chris, Sayard, Kyle and Amanda; two great grandchildren, Nikki and Logan; five sisters, Joanne Maxwell (Glen) of Quispamsis, Barb Maxwell of Rothesay, Joyce Spear of Fredericton, Beth Spear (Jim Goldrich) of Quispamsis and Bernadine Wilson (Gil) of L'Etete; two brothers, Dave Spear of Fredericton and Bill Spear (Lynn) of Quispamsis; several nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters/brothers-in-law, Barb Wilson (Dave), Joan Peterson (Pat), Betty White (Jimmy), Doug Banks (Nora), Kenny Banks (Maryella), Larry Banks (Judy) and Danny Banks (Barb); her extended church family and many friends, including her special long-time friend, Faith Boyd. Judy was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Spear. The family will receive relatives and friends at Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church, 55 Corbett Ave., Fredericton on Monday, January 14, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Officiating clergy will be Rev. John Symonds, assisted by Rev. Peter Thomas. Pallbearers will be Ken Reeder, Doug Ashfield, Glen Maxwell, Jim Goldrich, Ryan Boyer and Tom Hazlett. Interment in the Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada, Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church or Bethany Bible College (Mae Banks Memorial Fund) would be greatly appreciated.
