JONES, VELLA BLANCHE (BURTT) The death of Vella Blanche (Burtt) Jones, wife of the late Glenwood Jones, of Burtts Corner, NB, occurred on February 2, 2008 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on April 24, 1911 in Burtts Corner, NB, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Ora (Cooke) Burtt. Vella was a member of the Burtts Corner Church of Christ and was formerly a member of the choir and taught Sunday school for many years, also she was the past Secretary/Treasurer for fifty-five years and enjoyed helping with the children's Christmas pageants. She was also a member of the Burtt's Corner Ladies Progressive Conservative Group and past President of both the Burtt's Corner Senior Robin's Group and the Ladies Sewing Circle. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family. One of Vella's most cherished memories was attending one of the Queen's Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace in 1989. She is survived by her niece, Janet Jones (Aulden), Priscilla (wife of special nephew Douglas who died in May 2004); and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Vella was also predeceased by her sisters, Gladys Gilbey, Aletha Burtt, Bernice Gilby, Freda MacDonald, Eva Mahar, Lola Burtt; and brothers, Douglas, Gerald, Gifton and Douglas. Visitation will take place at Burtts Corner Church of Christ on Monday February 4, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from the church on Tuesday February 5, 2008, at 2pm with Pastor Graham Crandall officiating. Interment will take place at the Burtts Corner Cemetery, at a later date.
