HILDA M. PICKARD

PICKARD, HILDA M. With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Hilda M. Pickard. Born on December 15, 1915 in Bear Island, NB, she was the only daughter of the late Harvey and Gertrude (Brown) Ingraham. She was a former resident of Keswick, NB, before she moved to Mountain View Lodge, Silverwood. It is here with family by her side she passed away peacefully on February 9, 2008. Hilda completed her early education at the Bear Island School. Choosing a career in education, she graduated from Normal school in 1933. She taught four years, one at Bear Island and three at Scotch Lake prior to her 1937 marriage to the late Eugene Pickard and a half year at Mouth of Keswick prior to raising her family. In 1960, Hilda resumed her education, acquiring a teaching certificate II while teaching for an additional 21 years, nine at Mouth of Keswick and twelve at Keswick Ridge Rural School. Hilda was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Keswick Ridge, NB and was active with the A.C.W. She was also an organist at the United Church, Mouth of Keswick and a member of the Neighborhood Club. Always interested in travelling, she enjoyed trips across Canada, Eastern U.S.A. and one to Europe. Her hobbies included knitting, reading, golfing and vegetable gardening. Hilda is survived by her three sons, Robert Pickard of Keswick, NB, Aubrey (Ruth) Pickard of Keswick Ridge, NB, Brian Pickard of Douglas, NB; one daughter, Elaine (Beverly) Robertson of Regina, SK; five grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Monet, Scott Robertson, Kimberley Fitzpatrick, Karen Pickard (Robin Palmer), Candace Picard; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Gordon Ingraham, and an infant grandson. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 11 am with Archdeacon John T. Sharpe officiating. Interment will take place at the Pickard Merrithew Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, this would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
