SIDNEY MOLLON
MOLLON, SIDNEY The passing of Sidney Mollon (CD), husband of Jean (Butler) Mollon, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on February 20, 2008 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on September 23, 1919 in Sydney, NS, he was a son of the late Manoah and Alice (Murrin) Mollon. Sidney retired from the Canadian Armed Forces, after 17 years of service, as a Merchant Marine from 1945 - 1952 in Canada and Britain and in Cyprus from 1966, 1969 - 1970. Sidney also worked for Maritime Pest Control for 13 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 93, as well as the Blue Helmet (United Nations). Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Helen Basque (Wilgod) of Harvey Station, NB, Barbara Mollon (Gerald Pelletier) of Richmond, BC, and Doris Rutter (Sidney) of Oromocto, NB; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn June McIntyre (Albert) of Halifax, NS, Ruth Oickle of Sydney, NS, Lydia Fraser of Williamsville, NY; two brothers, Cecil Mollon of Delray Beach, Florida, Donnie Mollon (Marylin) of Sydney, NS; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Johnston, Violet Dickenson and Grace Carter; two brothers, Leslie and Arthur Mollon; grandson, Aaron Rutter; brother-in-law, Melvin Fraser. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 2 to 5 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #93 are asked to assemble on Saturday at 2 pm for a legion tribute service. There will be a Graveside Service at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
