NORMAN CECIL CHRISTENSEN

CHRISTENSEN, NORMAN CECIL The passing of Norman Cecil Christensen, of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Pauline (Petersen) Christensen, occurred on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on January 13, 1913 in the Danish community of Foley Brook, NB, he was a son of the late Christen and Hannah (Jensen) Christensen. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In his early years, he owned and operated a sawmill with his youngest brother Wallace in New Denmark. He then went on to become a potato farmer in the community where he and his wife raised their six children. In 1968, they moved to Fredericton where he began his life as a carpenter building homes in the area. After his retirement, he continued to enjoy building things for his family and friends. He was a member of the Anglican Church of Canada. Norman is survived by two sons, Errold (Shirley) Christensen of Grand Falls, NB, Dwight (Nancy) Christensen of Ottawa, ON; three daughters, Paulette (Earle) Black of Saint John, NB, Irene (Richard) Kitchen of Moncton, NB, Charlene (Ron) Worrall of Fredericton, NB; daughter-in-law, Sheila Christensen of Fredericton, NB; 12 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Norman was predeceased by one son, Melvin Christensen; four brothers, Raymond, Alvin, Wallace and Gordon Christensen. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 11 am with Archdeacon John T. Sharpe officiating. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Chalmers Foundation, Meals on Wheels, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
