EDWARD C. MUTCH

MUTCH, EDWARD C. Edward C. Mutch was born September 26, 1912 and passed away March 7, 2008 in Woodstock N.B. He was the son of the Late Charles and Fannie (Pickel) Mutch. He was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend of 62 years, Grace (Cook); sisters, Ardis Furrow and Louise Ross; also son-in-law, Walter McKell. He is survived by his son, David (Ruby Jean) of Fredericton; and daughter, Joan (Walter) McKell of Woodstock; sister-in-laws, Marjorie Murray and Maude Shaw; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Edward was a graduate of the Carleton County Vocational School and shortly afterward served in World War II, one year in the Second Battalion Carleton and York Regiment then transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in various postings in Canada and Newfoundland until his discharge in 1945 at Gander. After the war he returned to Woodstock and continued to work at the Woodstock Woodworking Factory for 27 years after which he went into the life and general insurance business. During this period he also owned and operated the first H&R Block income tax franchise in the Town of Woodstock. A faithful member of the Woodstock Wesleyan Church, Edward provided many years of service as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Treasurer, Board Member and Sunday School Teacher. He also served as a Board Member of the Bethany Bible College in Sussex. In his later years he wrote many religious articles for Wesleyan publications. He was born the year the CNR railway was built through the Town of Woodstock. Edward lived most of his life in the Woodstock area and has written articles on his growing-up years that were published under the heading "In My Generation". He was known for his love of reading, storytelling, musical interests, which included playing piano and violin, and his passion for serving Christ. He was a loving husband, a faithful father, and loyal friend; he will be sadly missed. Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock with visiting on Monday, March 10, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Woodstock Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 3:00pm; Rev Dale MacDonald officiating with interment in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery at a later date. www.scottfh.com
