ELIZABETH ANNA (JOHNSON) SIMPSON
SIMPSON, ELIZABETH ANNA (JOHNSON) (March 26, 1929 - March 16, 2008) Anna was peacefully ushered into the presence of the Lord on March 16th, 2008 surrounded by her loving family, in York Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Oxbow, New Brunswick into a family of fifteen, on March 26, 1929 to the late Alonzo and Ruby Johnson. She is predeceased by her husband, Archibald Simpson. Anna is survived by her only child, Maida (Parsons) Langton of Fredericton, NB. She will be sadly missed by her four grandsons, Colin (Mandy) Langton of Zimbabwe, Paul (Leigh) Langton of Oribi Gorge, South Africa, Shaun (Shirley) Langton of Durban, South Africa, Nathan (Mari-Kaye) Langton of Fredericton, NB; and two grand-daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Anna Langton and Rachel (Matthew) Pugh both of Fredericton, NB. She is survived by ten great - grandchildren. Anna is also survived by four sisters, Mavis Everett of Plaster Rock, NB, Greta (Wendell) Campbell of Plaster Rock, NB, Naida Margison of Woodstock, NB, Jackie (Douglas) Shannon of Plaster Rock, NB; and two brothers, Wayne (Patricia) Johnson of Plaster Rock, NB, and Garth Johnson of Yarmouth, NS; and sister-in-law, Dawn Johnson of Burntland Brook, NB. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Anna earned a Bachelor of Education and worked as a teacher in Plaster Rock for 35 years before retiring in 1987. An active member of the United Baptist Church, she served in various ministries including teaching Sunday School, Awana, Women's Missionary Society and in the choir. Her hobbies included quilting, poetry writing, walking, hunting, fishing, and spoiling her grandchildren. Visitation will be at White's Funeral Home, Plaster Rock on Tuesday, March 18th from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the United Baptist Church, Plaster Rock on Wednesday, March 19th at 2pm with Rev. Leonnard Cousins officiating, followed by a reception in the church. Interment will take place at the Burntland Brook Cemetery later in the Spring. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anna's memory to The Heart & Stroke Foundation and The Canadian Diabetes Association.
