NEILSON, JAMES EDWARD "JIM" The passing of James E. "Jim" Neilson of Swan Creek occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on March 30th, 2008 at the age of 73. Born in Pennfield, NB, he was a son of the late Arthur and Ida (Cook) Neilson. Jim was retired from NBTel after forty two and a half years service. Well respected at work, he also had great respect for the people he worked with and took great joy going to work every day. One of his proudest events in his life was his part in the development of Sugarloaf Campbelleton where two trails were named "Neilson 1" and "Neilson 2' in his honor. Jim was involved with the Queen's County Fair serving on the Board of Directors and looked forward to the event every year. He was a serving brother of Saint John Ambulance and received an award from Lt. Governor Roland Michener for his efforts. Jim was also a long time member of the New Brunswick Liberal association. Very well respected within his community, he was always there ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. He loved the outdoors especially his vegetable garden, where many a people could be seen leaving with a bag of fresh home grown crop. Survived by his wife Patricia (Smith) Neilson; daughter Melanie Neilson of Swan Creek; three granddaughters, Alea, Shawna and Sara; sisters, Marjorie Graves (Murray) of Burton, Shirley Stennick, and Leona Maynard (Marty) all of Oromocto; brother Neil (Norma) Neilson of Saint John; daughter-in-law Stephanie Neilson of Saint John; several sisters and brothers in law; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son, Gordon; Brothers, Donald, Fred, Bill and Alexander; Sisters Lillian, Annie, Muriel and Janet. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, with visitation on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Pastor Barry Vernon officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
