DOUGLAS H. "MITCH" MITCHELL
MITCHELL, DOUGLAS H. "MITCH" The passing of Douglas H. "Mitch" Mitchell of Durham Bridge, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 24, 2008. He was 80. Born in Brantford, Ontario, on September 11, 1927, he was the son of the late Charles James and Leone (Syrie) Mitchell. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Ammunition Technician and prior to his retirement was a Commissionaire with the RCMP "J" Division, Fredericton. An avid hunter and fisherman, he used to fish with Ted Williams. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No.15, Marysville. Mitch is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marie (White) Mitchell; two sons, Gary Mitchell of Saint John and Dana Mitchell (Ann) of Fredericton; one daughter, Sharon Ann Mitchell-Fullarton (Darrell) of Fredericton; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The last surviving member of his immediate family; his parents, a brother, Charles; a sister, Doris and a son; Charles William Mitchell, all predeceased him. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will be held Saturday 7 to 9 PM and Sunday 7 to 9 PM. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in the Marysville United Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Mitchell, Floyd Fox, Michael Fullarton, Leon Lavigne, Maurice Munn and Joe Savoie.
