COOPER, FREDERICK WILLIAM (BILL) The death of Frederick William Cooper of New Maryland, occurred on May 21st, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was born on November 5th, 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the son of the late Col. William and Sally Cooper of Barrie, Ontario. Bill joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1951 retiring in 1987. He was posted to various locations in Canada and served as a peacekeeper for one year in the Middle East. Following retirement he was a volunteer at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital Oncology Clinic. Bill is survived by his wife, (Abby) Elberta (Stafford); one son, Alan of Florenceville, NB; niece, Mary Lynn Martin of Brampton, ON; nephew, Steven Martin of Collingwood, ON; and grandchildren, Leisa and Michael of New Maryland, NB. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Joan Martin; and a daughter, Nancy of New Maryland, NB. There will be no visitation or service by request. A private burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. No flowers by request, donations made in Bill's memory to Dr. Everett Chalmers Oncology Unit would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Tom Barry and these nurses at 4SW, Erin Porter, Kelly Lavallée, Beth, Lena Balandina, Crystal, and especially Sara for the care and compassion shown to Bill and his family.
