IDA BERYL (WEAVER) CURRIE

CURRIE, IDA BERYL (WEAVER) The passing of Ida Beryl (Weaver) Currie, wife of the late George Herbert Currie, of Stanley, occurred on June 4, 2008 at her home. Born on March 29, 1915 in Storeytown, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Jennie (Witherall) Weaver. Ida is survived by three sons, Allan (Lois) Currie of Nashwaak Bridge, Paul Currie of Tyndall, MB and David (Susan) Currie of Stanley; one daughter, Susan (Bob) Wilson of Boissevain, MB; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Lisa) Currie of Airdrie, AB, Joanne (Scott) Williams and Mark Currie both of Fredericton, Allan (Kim) Currie of Winnipeg, MB, Steven, Brodie and Tari Wilson of Boiessevain, MB and Adam Currie of Stanley; sister, Anna Whitcomb of Pensicola, FL, USA; granddaughter-in-law, Andrea Currie of Tyndall, MB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Ida was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Eleanor Currie wife of Paul; grandson, Shawn Currie son of Paul and Eleanor; sister, Helen Lindsay; brothers, Harold, Willie and Allan. Ida received her education in Storeytown (grades 1-8), finished her high school in Doaktown, and attended Normal School in Fredericton, 1932 and 1933. Her teaching career started in Russseltown in 1933, then to Blissfield, Ludlow, Cross Creek, White Head, Grand Manan, and East Bathrust. She had 17 years of teaching in Stanley at which time she retired in 1975. She had many fond memories of each place she taught and talked often of her students and the many people she met. Ida was an active member of the ACW; for her years of dedicated service to the Parish of Stanley WA-ACW, her name was added to the Roll of Honour of the Saint Thomas Anglican Church in March, 2005. She enjoyed her family, camping, knitting, art classes, and playing bridge. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 2 pm with The Rev. Ranall Ingalls officiating. Pallbearers are Andrew, Mark, Allan and Adam Currie, Steven and Brodie Wilson. Interment will take place at St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery.
