BLODWEN MARY (POWELL) HOWELLS

HOWELLS, BLODWEN MARY (POWELL) Blodwen Howells of Fredericton passed away surrounded by her family on June 24th at the DECH, aged 84. Blodwen will be dearly missed by her daughter, Alison Howells and husband Sean Phinney (Fredericton); and her son, David Howells and wife Cindy Mersky (Toronto), and her grandson Evan. Originally from London, England, Blodwen and her beloved husband Griffith (deceased) immigrated to Canada in the 1950's and raised a happy family in Toronto. She battled illness all her life with the adage "routine, routine, routine" to keep herself going. She also kept herself going with her thirst for knowledge and her desire to get the most out of life. She was an RAF airplane fitter (mechanic) during WWII, worked as a chiropitist in England, and later worked as a teacher in Canada. When she was not able to work, she took classes in or taught herself about everything under the sun - from carpentry and electricity to Japanese and sculpture. Her family has always been proud of her many accomplishments. Many thanks to the wonderful staff on 3SW for their kindness and professionalism. No visitation or funeral by request. If you wish, donations can be made to the Red Cross, Transition House or a charity of one's choice.
