DONALD GORDON PIERCY

PIERCY, DONALD GORDON (1930-2008) With deep sadness the family announces the passing of Gordon on July 13, 2008 at the Harvey Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 2, 1930, son of the late Gates and Annie (Messer) Piercy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce (Fraser) Piercy; his cherished children, Carolyn King (Greg), Tweedside, Beth Ann Cleghorn (Brian), Saint John, Ellen Sabean (Kevin), Fredericton and Michael Piercy (Willa), Tweedside; his treasured grandchildren, Troy Piercy, Sarah Piercy, Megan Dickison (Stewart), Melissa Little (Shawn), David Cleghorn (Tina), Laura Cleghorn, Jennifer Doiron (Rudy), Matthew Sabean, Craig Sabean and Thomas Sabean; great grandchildren (Gramps Babies), Jarek, Alix, Landyn, Cooper and Gabriel; a sister, Ruth Craig (Hollie), Fredericton; a brother, Clayton Piercy (Erva), Tweedside; sisters-in-law, Mavis Greer (Mike), Hanwell, Velda Morrow (Hugh), Burton, Mary Ann Patterson (Gary), Fredericton and Myrna Lint (Dan), Grande Prairie, AB; brothers-in-law, Robert Fraser (Charlene), Vaughn Fraser (Evelyn), Travis Fraser (Anne), Mark Fraser (Rose), all of Fredericton and Brian Fraser (Cyn), Whitehorse, YK; several nieces and nephews. Gordon was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church where he served on the Board of Managers for several years. He was a past member of the LOL and the Harvey Bowling League. He worked for a time for the CPR as well as construction. Gordon operated the family farm and was an avid woodsman, working for E & D Construction for many years, where he got his nickname 'Pipe'. After he retired, he did some woodworking as a hobby and you can find his famous birdhouses across Canada, in Boston and San Francisco. Gordon loved visiting with his friends and neighbours. His special time was when the children and grandchildren were coming home for the weekend. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 as his home, 708 Tweedside Road, Harvey from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 2412 Route 3, Harvey at 3 p.m. with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Gordon, the family has suggested the Knox Church Parking Lot, Harvey Outreach for Seniors or a charity of the donor's choice.
