WILLIAM OGILVIE CROCKET
CROCKET, WILLIAM OGILVIE William Ogilvie (Bill) Crocket passed away at his home on Friday, August 1st, 2008 after a brave struggle with cancer. Born in St. Stephen, NB, on the 3rd, of October 1933, he was the son of the late William Wallace and Annie (neé Ogilive) Crocket, a lifelong resident of Fredericton and a lifetime member of Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his brother, James H. (Catherine) Crocket of Ancaster, Ontario; nephew Andrew J. (Christine) Crocket of Dundas, Ontario; niece, Jennifer Ann (Paul) Rymes of Devon, Alberta and cousins in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Bill graduated from the University of New Brunswick in Business Administration (Faculty of Arts) in 1958 and then worked for the New Brunswick Liquor Corporation retiring in 1993. During his working years Bill enjoyed ocean cruises to warm places, game bird hunting and summer visits to his niece and nephew. In later years visits to Andrew and Christine Crocket and their growing families, Miranda and Alex in Dundas, and Jennifer and Paul Rymes whose family includes Mackenzie, Wilford and Johnna in Devon, Alberta were events that left many precious memories. A highlight of his last trip was a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Mary Logan of Regina, Saskatchewan in 2002 - a visit that coincided with his 69th birthday, and was crowned by a superb Mary Logan birthday cake. Bill was a regular customer of the Cabin Restaurant which, in addition to great food, served up friendship, warmth and great understanding during his illness. Bill especially appreciated Dave Halfyard and his staff for their many acts of kindness. In addition the Tuesday morning breakfasts (every other week at the Diplomat Restaurant) with old high school friends and others were a source of great comfort to Bill. To his family physician, Dr. Carmen Stuart, Extra Mural Program and the home care workers who cared for him, Bill especially wanted to extend his gratitude for their patience, kindness and competence. Also Bill was most grateful to neighbours and friends who helped him in so many ways through difficult times. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Friday August 8th, at 11:00 am. Rev. Basil Lowery will officiate. Followed by a time of visitation and reception. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Associations or the Memorial Fund at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. www.mcadamsfh.com
