TILLEY, CHARLES SHANO The passing of Charles Shano Tilley of Fredericton, NB, occurred on August 28, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 20, 1926 in St. John's, NF, he was the son of the late Richard and Mildred (LaChance) Tilley. He had a long military career which included service in Korea, Cyprus and the Middle East. He was a member of the Capital Winter Club and Gilridge Golf Club for a number of years. His hobby was watching sports on tv and cooking. Charles is survived by his children, Lois (Richard) Thompson of Fredericton, NB, John (Diane) Tilley of Edmonton, AB, Allison Tilley (Fred) of Fredericton, NB, Richard Tilley of Edmonton, AB, Roger (Lynn) Dunbar and John Dunbar both of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren, Greg and Derek Thompson of Fredericton, NB, Nicole Tilley of Lloydminster, SK, Alexis Tilley of Edmonton, AB, Mark and Ryan Dunbar of Fredericton, NB, Selena Dunbar of Halifax, NS, Lexi Dunbar of Fredericton, NB; sister, Gladys Keaton of Texas; several nieces and nephews; his best friend, Sparky. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his 1st wife, Florence (Baggs) and 2nd wife, Mavis (Dunbar); sister, Phyllis; brothers, Gordon and Richard. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, August 31, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Nashwaaksis United Church on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 11am with Rev. Mary Tingley officiating. Pallbearers are Ryan and Mark Dunbar, Sterling Brown, Derek and Gregory Thompson and William Whitlock. Honourary Pallbearers are Sterling McNeish, Ernie Rutledge, Euclide LeBlanc, Raymond Brown, Don Duval and John Hall. Interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society, SPCA or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
