BIRD, MARY "MARGARET" The passing of Mary "Margaret" Bird of Fredericton, NB, formerly of Burtts Corner, NB, wife of Samuel D. Bird, occurred on August 30, 2008 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on June 17, 1919 in Burtts Corner, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Edna (Urquart) MacDonald. She was a member of the Keswick Ridge United Church of Canada. Margaret's home was her castle and her family was her joy. She was an excellent cook and side by side with her husband, Samuel, they ran the family farm; she also enjoyed knitting. In addition to her husband of 68 years, Samuel; Margaret is survived by her daughters, Josephine Carlisle (William), Madelyn Crawley (Peter) both of Burtts Corner, NB, Ellen Bird (William Cronk) of Grand Falls, NB, Barbara Merrithew (Monte) of Burtts Corner, NB and Anne Bird of Fredericton, NB; sons, Ronald Bird (Joan) of Burtts Corner, NB and Jeffrey Bird (Cynthia) of Ottawa, ON; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Carmen Jones of York Manor; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Edith Holmes; and brother, Eldon MacDonald. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Amos Adeniyi and Pastor Graham Crandall officiating. Interment will take place in Burtts Corner Community Cemetery.
