HOLLAND, HERMAN The passing of Herman W.T. Holland occurred at his home in Oromocto on Monday, September 15th, 2008, at the age of 73, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Bernard and Bernadina (Scheers) Holland. Born in Roosendaal, the Netherlands, he immigrated to Canada in 1954 with his family. Herman operated the Crescendo Dairy Farm in partnership with his brother Arnold, in Maugerville, for many years. After retiring from farming he continued to be active and worked for King Construction until his illness in March, 2008. Surviving are his two sisters, Leida of Oromocto and Mia Beno (Ernest) of Kingston, Ont; his two brothers William (Francine) of Keswick Ridge, and Gerard (Lucy) of Burton; and his sister-in-law Mary Holland of Fredericton. He also leaves to mourn his nieces and nephews, and many cousins in Canada (the Scheers family) and in the Netherlands. Besides his parents, Herman was predeceased by his sister, Thea and his brother, Arnold (Nol). The family will receive visitors at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 16th, from 7-9 pm, and on Wednesday, September 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Oromocto on Thursday, September 18th at 11 am, Fr. Ken Weir, celebrant, and Fr. Paul Riley and Fr. Raymond Stack concelebrants. Pallbearers will be Bernard Holland, Patrick Holland, Michael Holland, Robert Holland, Troy Smith and Arnold Scheers. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerry Leach, Harri Schuttenbeld, Steven Scott, William Wathen, Howard Baird and Willy Basque. Interment will take place in the St. Vincent de Paul Church Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
