LUCILLE MAY On MATTHEWS

MATTHEWS, LUCILLE MAY On September 21st at 3:15 pm, with family members gathered by her side at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Lucille May Matthews was received up into the presence of her Savior. Born on September 10, 1929 in Moncton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mildred (MaGee) Hopper and wife to Rev. Gerald Matthews. Lucille is survived by her husband, Gerald; sons, Pastor Larry Matthews (Cheryl) of New Maryland, NB and Rev. Andrew Matthews (Sue) of Lynchburg, VA; five grandchildren, Josiah, Jared, Seth, Katie and Amy; sister, Marlene Bishop of Moncton, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucille is predeceased by her parents as well as one sister, Marjorie. Lucille shared a life full of love and service as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt and a good friend to many. For over 60 years she faithfully served her Lord through the local church. Lucille was passionate about learning and teaching God's Word. She was dedicated to Missions, both foreign and at home. She was committed to ministering to children, especially through the AWANA Program. Lucille was one of God's greatest prayer warriors. Well done thou good and faithful servant. Visitation will be held at Faith Baptist Church in New Maryland on Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Faith Baptist Church on Thursday, September 25th, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Todd Coldwell and Mr. Bart Macumber officiating. Interment will take place in the Faith Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service. For those who wish, donations made to the Pine Grove Nursing Home would be appreciated by the family.
