LLOYD COLTER RIPLEY
RIPLEY, LLOYD COLTER (1916-2008) Lloyd Ripley and wife Florence of Fernie BC died tragically in a car accident near Fernie on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Born in River Philip, NS, he was the eldest son of the late Willard and Annie (Colter) Ripley. Lloyd was a veteran of WW2 having served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1939-45 as a fighter pilot and flight instructor. After the war he joined the Department of Fisheries and after a few years as Fisheries Inspector managed fisheries offices in Liverpool, NS, Newcastle and Fredericton, New Brunswick. Following retirement he and Florence moved to Riviere de Chute, NB. For a number of years he has lived in Fernie, BC. He is survived by son Willard (Susan) of Fernie; daughter, Muriel Clayton of Lincoln, NB; grandchildren Colter and Will Ripley of Vancouver, Jonathan (Memorial U) and Stephanie (UNB) Clayton; brothers, Ralston of Springhill, NS and Clair (Anna) of Queenstown, NB.; sisters, Beryle Page of Fargo ND and Marilyn Guy of Dartmouth, NS. and many nieces and nephews including Carol (Louis) Deschenes and Michael(Diane) Ripley of Fredericton. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters Gwen Layton, Grace Huszar and Edith Spencer. A memorial will be held at a later date. For those who wish remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick SPCA or a charity of donor's choice.
