YOUNG, BERTHA MARY The passing of Bertha Mary (MacKay) Young, of Taymouth, wife of Fred Young, occurred on Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Nashwaak Bridge, she was a daughter of the late Blake and Evelyn (Clark) MacKay. Bertha was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 80. Bertha worked at the VPH prior to her marriage and then at Wilson's Wreath Shop for several years where she enjoyed spending time with her co-workers and interacting with them. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening. In addition to her husband, Bertha is survived by two sons, David Davies of Kilarney Road, and Brian (Tracey) Davies of Cochrane, AB; two grandchildren, Lisa and Jamie Davies; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Marlene Hood and Dolores Hill both of Nashwaak Bridge, Marina Boyles (Borden) of Summerside PEI and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Bertha was predeceased by one son, Terry; one sister, Cora MacKay; two brothers-in-law, Harry Hood and Graham Hill. There will be no visitation by request of the family. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 11 am with Rev. Franklin Curtis officiating. Interment will take place in Nashwaak Bridge. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 80. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Nashwaak Bridge Community Cemetery Fund, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
