BERGER (ne%C3%A9 Smale) February 22, 1926 - February 2, 2009 In her 82nd year, Nora Berger passed peacefully in the loving embrace of her children February 2, 2009 at Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current. She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years John Berger, her parents Henry and Eva Smale, brothers: Karl, Lloyd, Elmer, Elwyn; and sisters Faye and Thelma. She is survived by sisters Valerie and Betty, and sisters-in-law Margaret and Lois. To celebrate her life, Nora leaves her five children, Charles (Monique) Berger, Brenda Gannon (Gordon Phillips), Shelley (Bill) Rowein, Kim (Loretta) Berger, and Monty (Sandra) Berger. Also celebrating her life are nine grandchildren: Connie, Scarlet, Shane, Billy, Charlie, Becky, Jody, Bobby, and Alissa; two step-grandchildren: Ashley and Sara, and eight great-grandchildren: Brandon, Montana, Mathew, Morgan, Hunter, Lucas, Rhett, and Evaya. Nora was born and raised McCord, SK. Following employment in Assiniboia and Moose Jaw, she met and married the love of her life John Berger. Nora was a loving wife, dedicated mother and a very great cook, as can be attested by all who enjoyed her hospitality. In addition, Nora will be well remembered for her creative talents and abilities - especially regarding gardening, poetic prose, oil painting, and crocheting. She was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed her reputation as a particularly successful bingo player and very able card player. Nora will be sorrowfully missed by all. Family and friends take comfort in the fond memories and the way she so positively impacted their lives. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the Redeemer Church in Swift Current on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 10:00 am. An Evening Prayer Service will be held at the Church on Thursday at 8:00 pm. Interment will take place at the Central Butte Memorial Cemetery. A special "thank you" is extended to the dedicated and adept physicians, nurses, and staff at both the Cypress Regional Hospital and Home Care Services. Memorials in Nora's memory may be made to the Cypress Regional Hospital, 2004 Saskatchewan Drive, Swift Current, S9H 5M8, or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1220A, 1150 Central Ave. N., Swift Current, S9H 4C8, would be appreciated.
