DEMERCHANT, ALICE ELVA 1922 - 2008 Alice Elva Giggie DeMerchant a 60 year resident of Florenceville, NB, went to be with her Lord Thursday, November 13, 2008. She is survived by her son, Richard DeMerchant and wife Della; her grandchildren, Richard Lance and wife Terra, Aaron Douglas, and Sara Quarin and husband, David. She is also survived by her sisters Maxine Giberson and Violet Greer as well as several nieces and nephews. She was born in Kiloween on December 21, 1922. She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Douglas, and brothers Howard, Theodore and Preston Giggie, and sisters Ethel Quick and Eileen Rogers. Mrs. DeMerchant was a faithful member of the Florenceville United Baptist Church and enjoyed many years of service on the Prayer and Concern Committee, and the Social Committee. She has hosted several summer missionaries in her home and served the Florenceville area as owner/operator of DeMerchant's Diner. The family will receive friends at the Florenceville United Baptist Church Florenceville on Monday, November 17 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Florenceville United Baptist Church Building Fund and Gideon's International.
