FERNEYHOUGH, FREDERICK It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Frederick "Fred" Ferneyhough, husband of Joyce (Duncan) Ferneyhough on November 13, 2008 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on October 30, 1932 in Sydney Mines, NS, he was the son of the late Sydney and Myrtle (Ross) Ferneyhough. Fred moved to Ontario from Glace Bay to seek employment in 1956. In April, 1957, he had an industrial accident at his place of employment where he lost his right arm. He met his wife in Ontario in 1971 and they were married in September, 1972. He remained at his work until he retired in 1995 and then moved back to Fredericton. Fred was a member of The Salvation Army Community Church. He was a bandsman at the church, a member of the Men's Fellowship Group and a member of the J.O.Y. Srs. Fellowship. Fred was an avid sportsman. He loved skating, hockey and baseball. Fred took every opportunity to enjoy these things. In addition to his wife, Joyce, Fred his survived by his step mother, Elizabeth Ashe of Glace Bay, NS; two brothers, Ross Ferneyhough of Woodstock, ON, Cecil (Sally) Ferneyhough of Brockville, ON and one sister, Corrine (John) Shea of London, ON; two half brothers, Wayne (Judy) Ferneyhough of Dartmouth, NS and William "Bill" Ferneyhough of Glace Bay, NS; two half sisters, Doreen (Frank) Lanigan of Dartmouth, NS and Elaine (Jack) MacQueen of Glace Bay, NS; several cousins, nephews and nieces. Fred was also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Evelyn (Duncan) White. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at The Salvation Army Community Church on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 2 pm with Captain Bradley Reid officiating and Rev. Pete Thomas assisting. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to The Salvation Army Community Church, Parkinson Society or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
