POWER, LUCY GERTRUDE Lucy Gertrude Power, 94, wife of the late Terrence Power, of 35 Church St, Miramichi, NB, died peacefully at Miramichi Regional Hospital surrounded by family on November 16, 2008. Born in St. Margaret's, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Cook) Hackett. Lucy graduated from Provincial Normal School in Fredericton in 1932 and taught school for many years in Kouchibouguac and Chatham. She attended St. Michael's Basilica and was life member of the CWL. She was a member of the retired Teacher's Association and volunteer at Mount St Joseph's Meals on Wheels and as a literacy teacher. She survived by seven children, Shirley (Ron) Currie, Markham, ON, Joan (Allan) Bartlett, Charlottetown, Lucy Carriere, Ottawa, Bob Power (David Ng), Fredericton, Paula (Brian) Forbes, Fredericton, Margaret Power, Miramichi, Terry Power, Hardwicke. Ten grandchildren, Jennifer Bitar, Andrew, Rebecca and Daniel Bartlett; Stuart and Richard Currie; Antoine Carriere; Chantal Hamilton; Erin Forbes; Ryan Trevors and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Wilson, Fredericton and Clara Bransfield, St Margaret's; one brother, Jim (Audrey) Hackett, Hamilton; brother-in-law, Thomas (Anna) Power, Miramichi and sister-in-law, Anna Dunn, Colgan, ON. Lucy was predeceased by sisters, Lillian Hackett, Teresa Wallace, Helen Zolobka and Mary Dickson, and brother's, Gerald, Jack, Harold and Bill. Mrs. Lucy Gertrude Power is resting at Maher's Funeral Home, Miramichi, NB on Tuesday Nov 18th 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov 19th at 11am from St. Michael's Basilica Miramichi with Fr John Fraser officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
