ASTLE, GEORGE "GEORDIE" MELROSE The passing of George "Geordie" Melrose Astle of Fredericton, NB, husband of Shirley (McNeill) Astle, occurred on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 30, 1932 in Gray Rapids, NB, he was the son of the late Miria and Earl Astle and Carrie McCoy. In addition to his loving wife of 55 years, Geordie is survived by his two daughters, Karen (Lou) Bartels of Pennsylvania, Paula (Terry) Dunphy of Fredericton; two sons, David "Ted" (Tammy) and Johnny (Susan) both of Fredericton; five grandsons, Todd, Jeremy, Jason, Andrew and Mitchell; one granddaughter, Michelle; seven great grandchildren; several half brothers and sisters; one special brother, Allen McCoy. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, November 24, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 2 pm with Rev. H. Jenkins and The Rev. W. Mutch officiating. Interment will take place in Dayton Cemetery at a later date.
