SAUNDERS, LENA EDITH The death of Lena Saunders occurred at the Orchard View Nursing Home at the age of 89 on November 24th, 2008. Born August 28, 1919 in Lower Hainesville, she was a daughter of the late Wilson and Arvilla (Stairs) Hickey and wife of the late Donald J. Saunders. She is survived by her daughter, Grace (Allan) Chapman of Cambridge-Narrows; daughter-in-law, Nanette Saunders of Gagetown; brothers, Mitchell (Lorraine) and Chester (Marjorie) Hickey; sisters-in-law, Violet and Geraldine Hickey as well as Anna and Jean Saunders. Loving grandmother to June (Terry) George, David (Melissa), Joey, Dennis (Stephanie Houle), Michael (Ruth) Saunders, Stephen Chapman, Diane (David) Standen and Kent (Pattie) Chapman. Proud great-grandmother to Meghan, Linzie, Courtney, Jeremy, Cory, Sabrina, Todd, Amanda, Travis, Jessica, Michael, Katherine, Austin and Taylor as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Donald; sons, Richard, Ardean and Ronald; brothers, Wesley, Stanley and Donald; sisters, Beatrice Scott, Verna Saunders, Mary Ingraham and Eva Trail. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 from 2 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, November 27th, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Gerald Nickerson officiating. Interment will occur in the Prince William Cemetery.
