ANNIE GRANT

GRANT, ANNIE DOWNHAM: Dec 15, 1919 - Nov 12, 2008 Nan Grant passed away peacefully after a sudden illness with her family by her side at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, Perth-Andover. Born in Leigh Lancashire, England, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Smith) Hill of Eastbourne Sussex, England. She served with the British Auxilary Territorial Services (ATS) as a Radar Spotter in an Anti Aircraft Battery on the English Channel. She met her husband David in 1942 and was married in 1943. At the end of the war with her son Trevor she arrived in Kilburn in April 1946. In subsequent years five more sons and two daughters were born. Nan is survived by her daughter Janice (Pat) Perley; three sons Trevor (Christine) Grant, Robin (Anna) Grant and Bruce (Tammy) Grant; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her special companion Tiddles. Nan was predeceased by her husband David Grant, parents, one brother Trevor Hill, her daughter Hilary and her sons William (Bill), Allison and Timothy and her granddaughter Jackie Clark. Nan was a member of the War Bride Association, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 36, The Women's Institute and enjoyed attending Keenagers. She had a great love of nature, all creatures Great & Small. An avid gardener, she loved her flowers. She always liked to keep her mind active with reading, puzzles, research and especially history. A memorial service was held at the Trinity Anglican Church with Archdeacon Walter Williams officiating. Arrangements were entrusted with Whites Funeral Home, Perth Andover.
