MCWHINNEY,DARLENE ROSE Darlene Rose McWhinney, 72, of Bedford and formerly of Kingston, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2008, in Halifax surrounded by family. Born in Fredericton, Darlene was the daughter of the late Alfred and Arleigh (Shanks) Fletcher. She was a devoted homemaker and employed at the Saint John Regional Hospital. As a member of the Saint John Marina and Kennebecasis Yacht Club, she enjoyed boating on the Saint John River with her husband Robert. After retiring to Nova Scotia, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, bird watching, flea markets, bingo, spending time with her cat "Chip" and visiting with family and friends at the cottage on East Lake. She is survived by sons Robert (Julie), Bedford, Wayne (Wendy), Fredericton and Murray (Desiree), North Vancouver and grand- children Sarah, Sean and Livona. She was predeceased by her husband Robert. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 29th, Rev Leon Langille officiating. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery. In memory, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
