GRAHAM, ELLEN Ellen Graham, 95, died Dec 22, 2008, in Portland, Maine, after a brief illness. Ellen was born on Maple Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada, on Aug. 3, 1913, the daughter of the late William Bennet and Dora (Richards) Barber. A 1931 Graduate of Provincial Normal School in Fredericton, she was a member of the South Portland Church of the Nazarene and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Although she was a resident of the Portland area for almost 70 years, living in Portland's West End for 40 years and worked in many local businesses, she always considered Maple Ridge her home and its people her family. For all of her days, a great part of her heart turned there. In recent years her niece Carolyn Thompson has faithfully served as her touchstone on Maple Ridge. She was known for her cheerful disposition, greeting every day with a bright "Good Morning!" A woman of extraordinary quiet strength, Ellen had a great fondness for animals and cherished her dogs and cats. Among the highlights of her later years were the visits of the children of friends and relatives. The widow of Harry W. Graham, she was predeceased by her son Donald R. Graham in 1977, and a brother, J. Everett. She is survived by her son Alden, of South Portland, and her adored granddaughter Patricia (Marc) Puglisi of Dracut, MA, and her brother Neil Barber of New Brunswick, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Visiting hours will be held at the Maple Ridge Wesleyan Church, 1125 Route 605, Maple Ridge, NB on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 beginning at 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. when a funeral service will be held with Rev.
