JOHNSTON, GEORGE D. Of Plano, Texas, formerly of Fredericton, NB and Verona, NJ died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Presbyterian Hospital, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 95. Mr. Johnston was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada. He was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick. He was a good scholar and athlete who played college hockey, as well as tennis and golf which he enjoyed into later life. He served in the RCAF during WW II as an officer and a pilot. After WW II he moved to New York City and then to Verona, NJ while pursuing his career. He worked for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and then he for the American Reinsurance Company, in New York City, from which he retired as an executive vice-president. After retiring, he and his wife moved to a Port St. Lucie, FL, and after his wife's passing, he moved to Texas to be near his daughter, Mary. Husband of the late Elizabeth S. (nee Jones), George is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Jane A. (Gary) Collins, of Burlington, NJ, Mary E. (Wayne), of Plano, TX, and Margaret V. (Mike) Bristow, of Kennebunkport, ME, his granddaughters, Jennifer L. (Brian) Schuck and Stephanie L. (Brian) Reed, and his great grandchildren, Sarah and Rebecca Schuck and Austin Reed.
