GLADYS ELIZABETH SEYMOUR

SEYMOUR, GLADYS ELIZABETH Gladys Elizabeth Seymour passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side. She was born July 20, 1912 in Belledune, NB, youngest daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Russell) Blair. The family moved to Marysville, NB when she was approximately three years of age where she grew up and attended school. In her 20's she was employed at the Marysville Cotton Mill. It was here in Marysville that she met and married her first husband, Cecil McCafferty and their son, Donald, was born in the early 1930's. In the late 1940's she met and married her second husband, Daniel Seymour, moved to Nashwaaksis and had their daughter, Deborah. Here she lived for most of her life until shortly after Dan's death in December of 1995. She then moved to St. Stephen, NB to live with her daughter until her admittance to a nursing home in May of 2008 after a period of failing health. Gladys was a meticulous housekeeper, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She particularly enjoyed her many summers at the cottage at Grand Lake gardening, incessantly cleaning and generally taking care of anyone who happened to be under her roof at the moment. She is survived by her son, Cecil Donald McCafferty (Shirley) of Dawson Creek, BC; her daughter, Debi Weatherby (Allan) of St. Stephen, NB; her grandchildren, Judy McAuley (Tim) of Radium Hot Springs, BC, Tim McCafferty (Sharalynn) of Beaverlodge, AB, Colleen O'Connell (Terry) of Creaston, BC, Pamela MacMillan (Trevor) of St. Stephen, NB, Melanie Duffy (Michael) of Halifax, NS and Ryan Weatherby of St. Stephen, NB; her great grandchildren, Melissa and Ryan Gauthier, Christy and Donny McCafferty, Kyre Glover and Tyler, Jeannine and Michael O'Connell, Danielle and Dustin Hawkins and Jordyn MacMillan; her nieces, Dorothy McKay (Howard) of Oromocto, NB, Agnes Seifried, Gladys Hartness, Muriel Hume, Doreen Williams and nephews, Russell Stevens of Austin, Texas and Murry Wheaton. Special mention of her long-time friend and "adopted" daughter, Marg Murrin (Don) of Oromocto, NB. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, January 23, 2009 from 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 1 pm with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
