READ, JOYCE (NEE BUCHANAN) The passing of Joyce Read of Fredericton and formerly of Quebec occurred at York Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, January 24, 2009. She was 74. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late William James and Josephine (Gillan) Buchanan. Joyce was predeceased by a brother, William Buchanan. Following a time spent in Turkey, she returned to Canada and took up residence in Quebec where she worked in the accounting office for Sears Canada. Joyce has been a resident of New Brunswick for the past nine years. She was loved and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Joyce loved animals especially dogs. She is survived by one niece and one nephew living in the United Kingdom as well as devoted friends Ken Sloat and Jayne Glenn of Fredericton; co-workers and many friends and acquaintances. There will be no visitation or service at this time by request. Following cremation, a graveside committal service will be held in the Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, later on in the Spring.
