BARTLETT, KENNETH ORMAN The death of Kenneth Orman Bartlett of Fredericton, NB occurred on Thursday, January 29th, 2009 after a short stay at Protem Health Care in Moncton, NB. Ken was born October 27th, 1933 in Harvey Station, NB to the late Allen and Vera (Patterson) Bartlett. Following graduation from Harvey High School, he enrolled at the University of New Brunswick where he graduated with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in 1955. The same year he married his high school sweetheart Florence (Jones). Ken was devoted to his family and friends. He loved fishing, hunting and dancing. He was known as Papa to his grandchildren. He knew his grandchildren well and they knew him. Ken was a leader in his community. He contributed to a number of community groups over five decades. He was involved in the Kiwanis Club, Big Brothers, United Way (National Board), YMCA, Fredericton Indoor Pool, Solid Waste Commission, Greater Fredericton Airport Authority, National Research Council and others. Ken was a builder of ADI Limited where he retired as President. He was active in his profession. He is a life member of APEGNB and was active with Consulting Engineers of NB, as a member and President. Ken was recognized as Fellow with Engineers Canada in January 2009 in recognition of his commitment and service to his profession. Ken will be missed by his wife, Florence; daughter, Susan (Erik); sons, John (Joan) and Ralph (Mary Jane). Papa will be missed by Sean, Eric, Ryan, Amanda, Emily, Portia and Scott. Ken is survived by one brother, Maynard (Margaret) Bartlett of Texas; and his Aunt Pauline Stevens of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Dexter, Roger; and sister, Maxine. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Sunday, February 1st, 2009 from 5-9pm. The memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Church on Monday, February 2nd, at 2pm. Rev. Paul Ross will officiate. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
