CHRISTIE, MILDRED The death of Mildred Blanche Marie Christie of Fredericton, NB, beloved wife of the late Edward Christie (S/Sgt, Rtd., RCMP), occurred on Sunday February 1, 2009 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born on January 23, 1931 in Hampden, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel (Banks) Tulk. Mildred was predeceased by her loving daughter, Beth Christie- McAlpine; sister, Rowena Barbour and brother, Woodrow Tulk. She is survived by daughters Lynn MacKinnon (Michael MacKinnon), Barbara Hatt (Gregg Hatt) and sons Tom Christie (Jane Smith) and Jeff Christie (Karen Christie). She is also survived by grandchildren, Nicholas Hatt (Diana McConnell), Christie Hatt, Ryan MacKinnon, Sean MacKinnon, Alexandra MacKinnon, Hannah Christie, Christian Christie, Grace Christie and Ava Christie and great grandson Parker McCormack-Hatt, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mildred lived a life of deep faith, dedicated to the care of, and service to, those to whom she met along life's way. As a long time Registered Nurse in Newfoundland and New Brunswick, she touched many with her compassion and kindness. She was active in the United Church, most recently as a devoted member of Wilmot United Church. In particular, she enjoyed worshiping as a member of the choir and the fellowship of her friends in the United Church Women. Resting at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street in Fredericton, visitation will be on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 4th at 2 pm from Wilmot United Church in Fredericton. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Beth Christie-McAlpine Memorial Fund (U.N.B. Fredericton), the Pine Grove Foundation (Fredericton) or the charity of choice.
