HARRY OSBORN COLE

COLE, HARRY OSBORN Harry Osborn Cole passed away on March 5, 2009 at the W G Bishop Nursing Home in Minto, NB, with his family by his side. Harry was born in Minto on November 14, 1923, the son of the late George F. and Lillian M. (Osborn) Cole. Harry attended Mount Allison Academy in Sackville, NB returning to Minto to graduate from Minto Memorial High School in 1942. In September of that year, Harry and his good friend, Jack Calabrese, joined the RCAF. Harry was stationed at different locations throughout Canada, and then overseas in England. Harry flew with the Lancaster Bomber Squadron 649. He was shot down over Germany and taken prisoner of war. Upon returning to Canada, Harry started working for NB Power as a Stationary Engineer. He retired in December 1983, after 36 years. He was a Past Master of Grand Lake Lodge # 47, and became a life member in 2006. He was also a Past Patron of Remembrance Chapter # 30, Order of Eastern Star, and a former member of Luxer Temple Shriners. Harry was a member of the Trinity United Church, and made an Elder for life. Harry enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved to spend time at the camp on the Caines River. Besides his parents, Harry was predeceased by his two brothers, Edmund Osborn and William Asa. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret (Donahee) Cole; his three children, Susan (Don Veysey) Kennedy of Fredericton, Nancy (Dwight) Emberley of Douglas Harbour, Thomas (Donalda) Cole of Hardwood Ridge; his six grandchildren, Christopher (Kari) Kennedy of Fredericton, Jamie (Michelle Voutour) Emberley of Minto, Kyle (Emily McLenahan) of Maugerville, Curtis, Catherine and Cailey Cole of Hardwood Ridge; one great-grandson, Andrew Cole Kennedy of Fredericton; one sister-in-law, Doreen (William) Cole of Minto; and, a special niece Linda (Floyd) Turnbull of Fredericton. At Harry's request, there will be neither visitation nor funeral service. Interment to take place at a later date. Donations in Harry's memory may be made to the Trinity United Church, the Shriners Transportation Fund, the W G Bishop Nursing Home Busfund , or to the charity of the donor's choice. www.mintofh.com
