JANET LILLIAN HARTT

HARTT, JANET LILLIAN Following a lifetime of service to God and family, Janet died Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Born in Minto, NB, Janet was the daughter of the late Anthony (Dell) Hartt and Catherine (O'Leary) Hartt. Janet was educated in the public schools of Minto and was a graduate of Saint Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. Janet worked as an R.N. in her early years and later became the Director of Nursing at North Minto Hospital, later called the Dr Gardiner Memorial Hospital and at the Queens North Health Complex as administrator. Janet retired in 1993 having worked 43 years in the health care profession. Janet's life has been a lifetime of care and compassion for those fortunate to have been under her professional care. She has always been a constant support to her family - parents, siblings and was dearly loved by her numerous nieces and nephews and even great nieces and nephews. Janet had an unlimited extended family - members who benefited greatly from her care and guidance given in a quiet and tender loving manner. Our village of Minto has also been rewarded by her sense of commitment in various committees. Janet was a staunch supporter and believer in the people of Minto. Janet played a key role in the forming of the Minto Senior Citizens Club. It's present home on O'leary Lane in Minto is built on a large tract of land donated by Janet. In recognition of her many roles as a volunteer, Janet was the recipient of the United Nations Award in 1992. Janet was a faithful parishioner of Holy Rosary Church having served as a member of the Parish council numerous times and until health problems arose, was a dedicated member of the luncheon committee. Janet had a rare gift that made everyone feel welcomed and important. Her words of encouragement and support will be remembered by all who were fortunate to have known her. Her numerous acts of charity (many of which were unknown) were well grounded in her faith and belief in God. Janet is survived by sisters Ella Vanderbroeck and Anne McLeod, sister-in-laws Cecilia Hartt (Minto) and Kaye Hartt (Dartmouth) along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers; Emmett, Clemet and wife Clara, Leo, Owen and wife Elsie, Douglas and Francis (Bill) and by sisters Theresa (Hartt) and Ruth (Anson). God truly has one of his precious angels returned home to Him. She will be greatly missed by her family. Visitation will be held at the Minto Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.
