BAIRD, ESTHER L. (1914 - 2009) Esther Louise Baird, wife of the late Roy Baird of Moncton, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27th, 2009 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in St. John's NF, July 3rd, 1914. Survived by daughter Judith Carpenter of Saint John; son Peter Read (Jocelyn) Sydney, Australia, sisters Ruth Lean, Anna Cosman, Moncton, and Margaret (Earl) Legere, Fitchburg, Mass; grandchildren, Gordon (Brenda) Carpenter, Saint John, Peter (Sally) Carpenter, Riverview, Catherine (Brian) Prosser, Saint John, Wendy (Dale) Knox, Saint John, Georgina and Coleman Read, Sydney, Australia, great grandchildren Robin, Kendall, and Glenn Carpenter, Scott and Emily Carpenter, Kate and Rachel Prosser, Rebeca MacGregor and Mallory Knox, as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband Frank Read, 1963, Esther Gail Read and husband Roy Baird, 2004, son in-law Glenn Carpenter, brothers Frederick and Robert. In 1954, the Reads moved to Fredericton where Esther worked for the Provincial Government in the Public Works. She had been a member of the Tidal Wave Chapter of Pythian Sisters and Fort Monckton Chapter of the IODE. A life long member of St. John's United Church, Esther will be sadly missed by her bridge playing and line dancing friends and her many friends at People's Park Tower and Camden Park Terrace. A Memorial Service for Esther will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 at 3:00 PM. Reverend Aaron Billard will be officiating. A reception will be held following the service in The Garden View Reception Room.
