ELLIS, VIOLET J. In her 100th year, Violet (Vi) Josephine Boddington (Ellis) passed away peacefully on Friday May 8th, 2009, at the York Manor nursing home in Fredericton, NB. She was the daughter of the late Lily May (White) and Albert Henry Boddington, originally from Birmingham, England. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John (Jack) Ellis, her son Albert William (Bill) Ellis, and her sister Vera Patricia (Billie) Miles. A long time resident of Fredericton, NB, she briefly lived in Fort Fairfield, Maine in the 1950's. Vi trained as a nurse and later became a full-time homemaker, devoting all of her time to her family. Vi loved a good game of bingo and was an avid card and games player. She was also an excellent cook and baker. You couldn't go to her house without sampling a home-made treat of some sort and if she knew ahead of time you would always leave with a goody bag. Over the years she knitted many a coveted baby outfit, afghan or pair of mittens for many of her beloved family members. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter-in-law Lorraine Ellis, her grandchildren Beth, Karen, Samantha and Bill as well as her many Nieces, Nephews and Great-grandchildren. Vi shared a special bond with her sister Billie, whose children held an honoured place in her heart. The family would like thank the staff of the York Manor Nursing Home for their many years of tender and loving care. A private memorial service will be announced at a later time
