RONALD GEORGE MURRAY

MURRAY, RONALD GEORGE, formerly of Fredericton, passed away peacefully at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital on April 18th, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer. Ron was one of eleven children of Murdock and Daisy Murray . At a young age , Ron joined the Royal Canadian Air Force which took him to the Canadian north where he worked as a radar technician. Later, he trained as a recreation specialist and this enabled him to travel extensively across Canada and in Europe in his work developing and implementing recreation programs. Upon leaving the Air Force , he accepted a position managing the recreation program for the city of Prince Rupert . While in Prince Rupert , Ron spent much time fishing , camping and enjoying all the area has to offer. Many will remember Ron for his full of life personality as he always had humour to share with everyone he met. As well, he will be fondly remembered for his generous hospitality and wonderful cooking. He always had a smile or a recipe to share. Ron was keenly interested to learn more about everything -he had a particular curiosity for history and was an avid reader. He is survived by his loving wife , Norma, of Prince Rupert; his children Wade Murray and Lietha Wards (Tony) and their children Kayla and Sophie Murray and Stephen and Christopher Wards; Norma's children : Donald Wilson ,Maxine Russ (Jeff), Irvin Nelson, Georgina Lloyd (Terry),and their children: Donovan Wilson, Thomas Russ , Cody, Noah and Sophie Nelson, Carson and Ethan Lloyd. In addition, he is survived by siblings : Elizabeth Hoare, Albert (Margaret), Arnold (Marlene), Leo (Maureen), Allen (Patsy), Sheila O'Neill (Keith), Paul (Sylvia), Joyce Maston (Bob) and many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents , Daisy and Murdock Murray, his beloved son, Aaron, and his siblings , Leslie and Ivan ,sister-in-law Betty , nephew Ian Hoare and great nephew Alex Gunter . Ron will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his many friends and family.
