GLADYS M. COOK
COOK, GLADYS M. Gladys May Cook ,97, of Moncton and formerly Fredericton passed away peacefully Friday May 22, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Bayfield she was a daughter of the late Martin and Alice (Allen) Trenholm. Gladys faithfully and gently served her community through churches to which she belonged. Whether in Sackville, Salisbury or New Maryland, she was willing to lend support through quiet and meaningful gestures. She did not seek public recognition or applause for herself, but took great pride in the accomplishments of her son and family. Her reputation for home-cooked meals made her the first stop for visitors, who were never disappointed with her freshly baked gingerbread. Her seven great-grandchildren knew there would always be a tasty treat in the candy cupboard. Remembered and sadly missed by her daughter in law Donna Colwell (Charles) of Fredericton; granddaughter Valerie Marshall (Martin) of Fredericton; grandsons Gordon Cook (Pamela) of Petitcodiac, Colin Cook (Joy) of Moncton; great grandchildren Ruth, Melora, Jared, William, Julia, Matthew and Aaron and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Vaughn, her son Rev. Dr. David Cook; sisters Florence and Ruth; brothers Penman, Edward and Mennel. Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Monday 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Funeral will follow in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Larry Matthews officiating assisted by Rev. Gordon Cook and Rev. Colin Cook. Interment at Fairhaven Cemetery, Moncton. If so desired memorials to the Atlantic Baptist Mission Board or the Gideon's would be appreciated by the family. www.keirsteads.ca
