WILMA JEANNETTE ALEXINA RODGERS
RODGERS, WILMA JEANNETTE ALEXINA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma Jeannette Alexina Rodgers of Noonan, NB, wife of William Rodgers on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 13, 1939 in White Rapids, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Olga Sturgeon. She was a member of St. Margaret's Anglican Church. Wilma was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Fredericton, also a Life Member of Branch #4 Ladies Auxiliary, where she was president for two years, 2001-2002. Wilma was the bookkeeper for the family business. Wilma was a very strong and courageous person; she fought the battle with cancer on three separate occasions over the past 20 years. She loved the simple things in life such as gardening, flowers, picking berries, singing, dancing, sewing and cooking. Wilma's greatest joy in her life was her family. In addition to her husband of 47 years, William Rodgers of Noonan, NB, Wilma is survived by her two sons, Neil (Trina) and their children, Michelle, Matthew, Thomas and Jakob. David (Earla) and their children, Samantha, Cole and Jenna. Two daughters, Kelly (Vincent) Sturgeon and their children, Connor, Turner, Hunter and Lauren. Lana (James) Adamson and their children, Michael and Derek. She is also survived by three sisters, Yvonne (Paul) Dunn, Verna (Jack) MacDonald and Tammy (Gordon) Sturgeon; one brother, Clarence (Bonnie) Sturgeon all of Miramichi, NB. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 2 pm with Canon Jon Lownds officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Paul Dunn, Jack MacDonald, Vincent Sturgeon, James Adamson, Thomas Rodgers and Connor Sturgeon. Interment will take place in Dayton Cemetery in Douglas, NB.
