GORDON LEIGH EMBLETON

EMBLETON, GORDON LEIGH The passing of Gordon L. Embleton of Bear Island, NB occurred on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on July 24, 1921 in Bear Island, he was a son of the late Selby and Fannie (Perley) Embleton. Gordon farmed for 25 years. He was a maple producer and lumberman. He was secretary of the Bear Island Farm Forum, member of the Agricultural Society and director of the Capital Co-op. He was also employed for 16 years in the maintenance department and as a supervisor at the Mactaquac Provincial Park. He was a devoted Anglican of the Parish of Prince William. Gordon is survived, and will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Roberta (Gilmore) Embleton; daughter Elaine Embleton of Fredericton, NB; son Beverly Embleton and daughter-in-law Brenda of Bear Island; grandchildren Carolyn Stevenson (Matthew) and great granddaughter Julia of Saint John, NB, Joanne Perkins (Leigh) of Saint John, NB and Laura Embleton of Fredericton,NB; a brother, Perley Embleton (Bobbie) of Fredericton, NB and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald and Russell Embleton, a sister, Bessie Howland, his half brothers, Myles MacDougall, Horace MacDougall, Thomas MacDougall, Albert MacDougall, Harry Embleton and Malcolm Embleton and half sisters, Naomi Hazelton and Nellie Grant. Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Elaine Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Bear Island Cemetery.
